Maxis is now providing personalised daily deals to Hotlink users through HotlinkMU. The official announcement comes a week after we had been tipped off to a beta test of the system last week. It appears that the deals are far more broad than we first expected, and are not only limited to additional data quota.
HotlinkMU offers a rotating menu of daily deals for subscribers through the Hotlink Red app. Through this, Hotlink users will be able to see special offers for things like additional data caps, streaming passes, and even call bundles. It’s hard to tell what the difference is for each person, but our own app is showing a free two hour pass for YouTube and an RM3 bundle for 50 minutes of talk time.
We have no idea how Hotlink decides on the kinds of deals that people see, but it looks like they are random for now. If anything, this provides an opportunity for the telco to experiment with promotions and see how people respond to them.
Hotlink users can take a look at the deals on offer for them through the Hotlink Red app (on both iOS and Android) or by dialing *100#82#.
