MSI Unveils The GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio

MSI has a new custom graphics card called the GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio. Interestingly, prior to the GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio, older “Gaming X” graphics cards come with two open-air cooling fans – the new card has three (a feature usually reserved only for the “Lightning” series).

Of course, being equipped with three open-air cooling fans means that MSI’s GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio is indeed a massive graphics card. Unfortunately, specific measurements were not detailed by MSI, but judging from the photos, one can assume that the GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio is a 2.5-slot graphics card.

When it comes to design, the MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio features an all black cooler shroud and backplate. Looking closer, it can be seen that the open-air fan situated in the middle of the graphics card is smaller compared to the fans located on the left and right of the cooler shroud. Also worth noting is the fact that the MSI’s newest graphics card is fitted with dual 8-pin power connectors – similar to that of the GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X.

Performance-wise, the GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio boasts factory overclocked base and boost clock speeds of 1569MHz and 1683MHz respectively. Meanwhile, video output includes dual HDMI and DisplayPort ports each, as well as one DVI port. The MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio graphics card is expected to be made available in selected regions starting from 12 October 2017.
