Computex 2017: MSI’s GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G Now Has USB Type-C

A few days ago, we reported that MSI will be showcasing its brand new custom GTX 1080 Ti in Computex 2017. More specifically, the new GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G. This graphics was been released a few months ago, but it looks like MSI has re-released the graphics card with one rather interesting feature.

MSI has fitted a USB Type-C port onto its refreshed GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G, which apparently is the first time anyone has ever done so. I’m sure many of our readers may have already known that USB Type-C is not only good for relaying data and power, it’s also able to carry video signals as well (Thunderbolt 3).

The addition of a USB Type-C connector means that MSI had to remove one DisplayPort port – there used to be two. Oddly, it seems that aside from introducing a new type of connector, there doesn’t seem to be any other improvements done on the new GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G. Knowing this, it seems very likely that it’ll come with the same specifications as the previous GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G.

As expected, MSI made no mention about when its revised GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G will be made available. Likewise, pricing information was not given either.
