There’s nothing more frustrating than running out of data when you are watching a video or chatting with friends. Sure, you can open up your telco’s app and purchase additional internet, but it means that you would need to stop watching your video, or put your chat to a halt to do so. Digi recently updated its service, allowing you to purchase data add-ons directly from your favourite app.
With the update, you may purchase data directly from YouTube, Twitter and WeChat. When you run out of data on YouTube, you will receive a prompt from the telco telling you to purchase more data. Tap on “See Options”, and Digi will show you a list of plans you can purchase to continue watching your video, all without leaving the YouTube app. Alternatively, you can go to your profile page on YouTube, and there will be a new “Buy Data” option listed. Do note that purchasing data on YouTube is only available for Android devices.

As for WeChat and Twitter, you will need to follow Digi’s official WeChat and Twitter accounts. For WeChat users, you will need to link your WeChat account with your Digi account. Once done, on top of being able to stay up to date with the latest promotions from the telco, you can buy internet from the telco’s WeChat page as well. Just tap the “Discover” tab, and open “Buy Internet”.
For Twitter users, just send Digi a direct message, “#digi4me” on the social network, and follow the instructions to register with your phone number and TAC. Once done, send “#buydata” to Digi, and select a data plan of your choice.
So far, it looks like direct data top up is only available on these three apps for the moment. If you are on other platforms, you can easily log into the latest MyDigi app to purchase additional internet.
