Nvidia Unveils The GTX 1080 Ti; Most Powerful GeForce GTX Card

Folks, it’s finally here. Nvidia has announced what may just be its most powerful GeForce GTX graphics card ever: the GTX 1080 Ti. The graphics card was unveiled during the company’s GeForce Gaming Celebration event at GDC 2017.

So, let’s get down to the important details. The GTX 1080 Ti is, obviously, very, very powerful. So much so that it actually comes with almost similar specifications as the Pascal-based Titan X. Impressively, Nvidia states that the GT X1080 Ti is about 35% faster than the GTX 1080 and faster than the Titan X too when it comes to gaming.

The GTX 1080 Ti’s specifications are as follows:

  • Cuda Core count: 3,584
  • Texture Mapping Units (TMUs): 224
  • Render Output Units (ROPs): 88
  • Base clock speed: 1480MHz
  • Boost clock speed: 1582MHz
  • Memory clock speed: 10008MHz
  • VRAM capacity: 11GB
  • Memory bus width: 352-bit
  • TDP: 250W

Like Nvidia’s previous Pascal-based Titan X and GTX 1080 graphics card, the GTX 1080 Ti comes with the GDDR5X memory controller. A few noticeable differences between the GTX 1080 Ti and the Titan X are their ROPs, base and boost clock speeds, VRAM capacity, memory bus size, and TDP rating. That said, the differences can be deemed as rather minute.

Interestingly, the GTX 1080 Ti will be equipped with Nvidia’s top of the line Pascal GP102 GPU. Due to its rather impressive specifications, the GTX 1080 Ti is meant to be used for gaming on resolutions beyond 4K. Nvidia mentioned that the graphics card was able to run Watch Dogs 2 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at a resolution of 5K; now that’s impressive.

When it comes to pricing, the GTX 1080 Ti will, unsurprisingly, come with a hefty price tag of US$699 (about RM3,109). The graphics card is expected to be made available starting next week across the globe.
