MWC 2017: Lenovo Unveils Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 Notebooks

Lenovo has announced its newest lineup of 2-in-1 notebooks called the Yoga 720 and Yoga 520; both of which are apparently targeted at ‘mainstream’ users. Like the company’s previous convertible notebooks, both the Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 come with several usage modes.

Users will be able to use the notebooks in either a standard laptop mode, tablet mode, tent mode, or stand mode. In addition, the Lenovo Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 notebooks are also thinner and lighter compared to their respective predecessors.

The Yoga 720 will come with two size variants: 13-inch and 15-inch. Likewise, the Lenovo Yoga 520 also ships in two sizes: 14-inch and 15-inch. Those aside, let’s first take a look at the specifications of the more powerful Yoga 720 notebooks.

The Lenovo Yoga 720 comes equipped with Intel’s latest 7th generation Kaby Lake processors (up to a Core i7). Besides that, the 15-inch variant of the notebook will be further endowed with a GTX 1050 GPU as well. Lenovo claims that the 15-inch Yoga 720’s battery will last up to nine hours on a 1080p touch display. Of course, a 4K display option is also available but do expect the resolution bump to decrease the battery life slightly.

Next up, we have the slightly less powerful Yoga 520 notebook. According to Lenovo, the Yoga 520 will be also fitted with Intel’s Kaby Lake processors. Unfortunately, the company has not equipped the Yoga 520 with Nvidia’s latest GPU; users will have to opt for a low-end 940MX GPU instead. Battery life is estimated to be around 10 hours on a full HD display.

Interestingly, the Lenovo Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 will come in several colour options: Platinum Silver, Iron Grey, Copper, Mineral Grey, and Onyx Black. Both notebooks will also come with an optional fingerprint reader and stylus support as well. When it comes to audio, the Lenovo 720 is said to be fitted with JBL speakers, while the Yoga 520 will feature Harman Kardon speakers.

Price-wise, the 14-inch Lenovo Yoga 520 will start from a price of €599 (about RM2,815). The 13-inch Yoga 720 starts at a price of €999 (around RM4,694), while the 15-inch variant will be priced upwards of €1,099 (approximately RM5,164). Both the Yoga 520 and Yoga 720 are expected to be available starting April and July 2017 respectively.
