Samsung Malaysia is giving away a free Gear VR headset (worth RM399) with each purchase of the Galaxy S7 edge. This promotion will run until 18 December 2016; although the promotion announcement also says that it is limited to the first 5,000 units sold.
All customers have to do is to buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge from a Samsung authorised store to qualify for the promotion. No extra strings attached as far as we can see. Aside from the limitation of one free Gear VR per customer.
The Samsung Gear VR only works with a specific number of Samsung Galaxy devices, and turns the smartphone into a virtual reality display. Samsung itself has quite a bit of VR content to offer, with Google also pushing the VR experience on Android.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge currently retails for RM3,099; although it has been around for almost a year now. Due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Note 7, this is probably the next best device for those loyal Samsung fans.
