Huawei Gearing up to Launch Nova Plus & MediaPad M3 in Malaysia

Back at IFA 2016, Huawei unveiled several new products. These include the Nova and Nova Plus smartphones as well as the MediaPad M3 tablet. Turns out, Huawei Malaysia is preparing to launch these devices on our shores.

As usual, we first caught wind of this when we looked through SIRIM’s database. There, we found two products registered under Huawei Malaysia: “MLA-L12” and “BTV-DL09.” The former is the Nova Plus, and the latter is none other than the MediaPad M3.

Although the Nova has not been registered with SIRIM yet, there’s a good chance it’ll eventually make it into the database. After all, most of Huawei’s products are sold in Malaysia, and it would make sense to launch both the Nova and Nova Plus simultaneous; they’re part of the same lineup.

In terms of specifications, the Nova and Nova Plus are mid-range offerings. Both devices feature Full HD displays (5-inch and 5.5-inch respectively), Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processors paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, as well as 3,020mAh and 3,340mAh batteries respectively. The Nova also has 12MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras, while the Nova Plus has a 16MP rear camera instead with optical image stabilisation.

The MediaPad M3, on the other hand, is Huawei’s latest flagship tablet. It’s equipped with an 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display, Huawei’s very own Kirin 950 processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, a sizeable 5,100mAh battery, 8MP rear and 8MP front-facing shooters, as well as a fingerprint sensor integrated into its home button.

At the time of this writing, we have not heard from Huawei Malaysia yet regarding any upcoming launch event for these products. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the Nova, Nova Plus and MediaPad M3’s local availability in Malaysia.
