Announced back in July this year, Sony’s latest lineup of premium 4K HDR TVs, the Z9D series, are now in Malaysia. As the company’s top-of-the-line offerings, these new TVs are not affordable, but they are definitely impressive.
One of the most touted features of the new Z9D series TVs is a new backlight system the company calls Backlight Master Drive. Essentially, this new technology enables black levels almost equivalent to that of OLED TVs, which is a very impressive feat for LED TVs like the Z9D series. These TVs can also deliver very high brightness levels without much backlight bleed, which is a common issue with LED TVs.
These range of premium TVs are powered by Sony’s new 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme, which is said to improve clarity, colour accuracy, as well as contrast of HD, 4K, and of course, 4K HDR videos. The Z9D series of TVs also run on Android TV and offer support for HDR10, a common format for HDR content.
The Sony Z9D series 4K HDR TVs are now available for purchase in Malaysia. The high-end TV is offered in two sizes: 65-inch and 75-inch, which retail at RM23,999 and RM29,999 respectively. Both models can be purchased at all Sony Stores and authorised Sony Centres nationwide. Alternatively, the new TVs are also available on Sony Malaysia’s online store.
