Apple has just released iOS 9.3.5 security update to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and it is important that you update right now. According to reports that have been confirmed by the Cupertino company, the update addresses a serious security flaw.
The New York Times describe the security flaw as an exploit that is believed to be used “to spy on dissidents and journalists”. It can spy on text messages and emails, as well as track calls and contacts. The exploit can also record sound, collect passwords and trace the whereabouts of the phone user. According to the NYT, Apple fixed the exploit 10 days after being tipped by two researchers, Bill Marczak and John Scott Railton.
iOS 9.3.5 is available right now via an over the air update. Just open the Settings app, go to General and tap on Software Update. Once downloaded, just follow the instructions to update.
