MSI has announced two new Intel C232-based motherboards called the E3 Krait Gaming V5 and E3M Workstation V5. According to MSI, both motherboards are aimed at professionals and gamers that prefer to use Xeon processors over consumer-grade CPUs.

Interestingly, both motherboards are said to be more reliable and stable compared to other consumer-grade Skylake motherboards. This is due to the fact that Intel’s C232 chipset is known to be more efficient and longer-lasting compared to the more common Z170 chipset.

The first Xeon-based motherboard announced by MSI is the E3 Krait Gaming V5. One of the features that come with the E3 Krait Gaming V5 motherboard is “Audio Boost”, which – according to MSI – is possible by using the highest quality audio components. Bear in mind that the E3 Krait Gaming V5 is a full-sized ATX motherboard.

That aside, connectivity-wise, the E3 Krait Gaming V5 motherboard is fitted with one USB 3.1 Type-C, five USB 3.1, and four USB 2.0 ports each. Besides that, the motherboard also supports a 2-way configuration of AMD CrossFire graphics cards. Of course, the gaming motherboard will support Intel’s 6th generation Core, Pentium, Celeron and Xeon E3-1200 v5 Processors – given that they are compatible with the LGA1151 socket.

Purpose-built for professionals, the MSI E3M Workstation V5 is a micro-ATX motherboard that is suitable for usage for workstation PCs as well as small data centres. The workstation motherboard comes with six USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 ports respectively. Amazingly, similar to the recently announced B150M Gaming Pro motherboard, the E3M Workstation V5 also comes with two “thought to be defunct” PS/2 ports (mouse and keyboard).

Like the E3 Krait Gaming V5 motherboard, MSI’s E3M Workstation V5 motherboards supports 6th generation Intel Core, Pentium, Celeron, and Xeon E3-1200 v5 processors that are compatible with the LGA1151 socket.

Unfortunately, MSI did not mention the price and availability of both Intel C232-based motherboards. Regardless, more information about the E3M Workstation V5 and E3 Krait Gaming V5 motherboards can be found at MSI’s official website.
