Crafted in conjunction with Xiaomi’s sixth anniversary, the company has revealed that it is going to release a Transformers version of Mi Pad 2. Interestingly, the robotic Mi Pad 2 is not just a random Transformers copy as Xiaomi has actually collaborated with Transformers creator, Hasbro in order to make it happen.
Even though it seems like yet another side project for the growing Chinese company, it apparently still able to provide some challenges to all the parties involved in the project. For example, the R&D department has made sure that the Transformers’ color, details, and feel are identical to the actual Mi Pad 2 according to the Vice President of Xiaomi Global, Hugo Barra,
The model also features 30-step folding assembly although it doesn’t function as per the actual Mi Pad 2. That is rather expected though since the progress of technology in our world has yet to reach that level.
At the same time, it is not going to be easy for users outside of China to get their hands on it since the special edition Transformers is being offered exclusively through Xiaomi’s own crowdfunding platform. With a price tag of CNY 169 (about RM 103), some Xiaomi or Transformers hardcore fans out there would find a way to get their hands on it anyway.
