Ever since its inception, YouTube Rewind aims to take a look back at the videos posted and appreciate its content creators. There’s no difference this year, except for the addition of a “Trending” tab.
This opens up another way for viewers to discover even more videos based on how viral or popular they are. These videos cover everything from a standard video to music videos. Les Copaque’s Upin & Ipin takes home the crown for being the top trending video in YouTube in Malaysia this year, while Mudah.my’s Chinese New Year ad and Petronas’ National Day commercial took 2nd and 3rd place respectively. BoBoiBoy and Ultraman also proved to be favourites of the Malaysian audience.

In terms of music, Malaysians also have a thing for foreign artists. If it isn’t obvious enough, Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ from the movie “Furious 7” soundtrack is the top trending music video of YouTube Malaysia 2015. Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’ and Maroon 5’s wedding-crashing ‘Sugar’ aren’t that far behind either.
