The Illegear Z5 gaming laptop is one of the best value for money gaming machines in the market, and with this refresh, it is that much more compelling. The new Z5 now has an anodised aluminium back casing instead of a plastic one, giving it a sleeker-looking appearance along with improved build quality.
While the new back casing is the Z5’s most notable upgrade over the previous model, there’s also an external antenna now for better signal and coverage. The best part is, according to the community thread of the Z5 here, if you own the older model, you can send it back to Illegear to change to the newer casing and antenna. Of course, it’s possible that this would be done for a fee.
Beyond these, the refreshed Illegear Z5 is identical to the older model in terms of hardware; no Skylake processor here. It still has a 15.6-inch 1080p anti-glare IPS display, an Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M or 970M graphics card, and a 500GB SSHD.
