OPPO Malaysia: A Mix Up Happened To Our R7 Lite Units Prior To Launch Event

OPPO R7 Lite Hands On 35

Earlier today, we have discussed in two separate articles that the “R7 Lite” smartphones that were on display at OPPO Malaysia’s launch event yesterday were actually another higher end model called R7 which will not be released in Malaysia. After we presented our concern to a representative from OPPO Malaysia, our contact person has admitted that those units were indeed R7 but stopped short of providing any reason why the company decided to showcase them.

That’s not the end of the story though as it turns out, OPPO Malaysia representative finally got back to us with additional explanation not long after we published our second article on the subject.

The app switcher clearly showed that this unit is equipped with 3GB RAM, which is one of the proof that it is an OPPO R7 instead of OPPO R7 Lite.

The representative claimed that OPPO’s headquarters has mistakenly shipped a batch that is meant for the company’s Taiwanese launch event (which is scheduled to take place next week) to Malaysia. The shipment apparently then arrived in Malaysia on the morning of the launch event which due to timing constraints, no one from OPPO Malaysia have apparently realized that the units that they received from the company’s HQ were actually R7 instead of R7 Lite.

Furthermore, they apparently only realized the situation after our articles were published earlier today. Frankly speaking, that is quite a bizarre explanation indeed and it is even a little bit hard for us to fathom the fact that this matter has just slipped in front of their eyes.

Nevertheless, OPPO Malaysia has assured us that R7 Lite is a real product in which Malaysian consumers will be able to check out once it arrived in our shores sometime in August. So, there’s that.
