While we were casually searching SIRIM’s database, we found a particularly interesting smartphone there: the LG G4. When we cross-checked the model number “LG-H815” on the web, it led us to the official LG G4 product page on LG UK’s website. Does this mean LG Malaysia will be launching its latest flagship device in our country soon?
Currently, the only way for consumers to get their hands on the LG G4 is through unofficial channels. A quick Google search showed that it is retailing from about RM2,200 to RM2,400, which seems pretty reasonable for a flagship device. However, it’s worth noting that these devices do not have official warranty, which could prove to be a major issue if any problem with the device arises.
In terms of specification, the LG G4 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor instead of the controversial Snapdragon 810 SoC. While the 808 is a slower processor than the 810, consumers might prefer the former processor, seeing how there are multiple overheating issues with devices equipped with the latter chipset.
Other specifications of the LG G4 include a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display protected by Gorilla Glass 4, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (which can be expanded with a microSD card up to 128GB), a 16MP rear camera with laser autofocus and optical image stabilisation, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and a 3,000mAh battery. It also ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Of course, just because the LG G4 appeared in SIRIM’s database, doesn’t mean a local launch is confirmed. It is, however, a pretty positive sign that LG Malaysia will bring in the G4 to Malaysia officially.
