OnePlus Two Benchmarked? Sports Snapdragon 810 with 3GB RAM

OnePlus hasn’t exactly revealed much about the One’s successor (which will probably be called the OnePlus Two), but it has been allegedly spotted in Geekbench, a benchmarking tool. From the benchmark, it seems like the Two will be powered by the rather controversial Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor that is paired with 3GB of RAM.

Looking at the benchmark result, it’s a little odd as to why the device is dubbed the OnePlus ONE (yes, all caps). For starters, its actual model number is A0001 instead of A2001. On top of that, the MSM8994 board shown is referencing the Snapdragon 810 processor. The OnePlus One, on the other hand, is powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor.

Of course, this could have been an intentional “error” to avoid suspicion. In any case, if the device benchmarked is in fact the OnePlus Two, we can expect it to be running on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Seeing how Cyanogen and OnePlus are no longer in a partnership, it’s probably an updated version of OnePlus’ OxygenOS.

If we were to speculate further, it’s possible that the OnePlus One (which is currently running on Android 5.0 Lollipop) will also be updated to Android 5.1 not long after the OnePlus Two is released. But this is assuming that the benchmark result above is legitimate.

According to the CEO of OnePlus, the OnePlus Two will be launched sometime in the third quarter of the year. Does it mean it will be launched as early as July 2015? We’d just have to wait until then to find out.
