The Xiaomi Mi 4i has been officially unveiled in India. With a 5-inch display and a generous 3,120mAh battery, it is essentially a plastic variant of the Xiaomi Mi 4 with slightly different hardware. Interestingly, the Chinese company mentioned that the Mi 4i has been 18 months in the making.
In terms of specification, the Mi 4i has a 5-inch JDI display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 that boasts a pixel density of 441ppi. Turns out, the display also has what Xiaomi calls “Sunlight Display” which makes it 30% more power-efficient. It also has a unibody design which should help with build quality.
The Mi 4i is powered by a second generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.7GHz octa-core processor that is conceived by Qualcomm India. It is also paired with 2GB of RAM. Yes, it might not be as powerful as the Snapdragon 801 processor of the Xiaomi Mi 4, but it should provide a respectable amount of processing power. In terms of storage, it has 16GB of internal memory.
In the camera department, there is a 13MP rear camera with a second generation stacked CMOS sensor and a F2.0 aperture. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is a 5MP F1.8 snapper. Both the rear and front cameras use 5-element lens.
Other than that, the Xiaomi Mi 4i is running on MIUI 6 that is based on Android Lollipop. It is also a dual-SIM smartphone, and impressively, both SIM slots will support LTE connectivity. The Mi 4i comes in five choices of colours: black, white, blue, yellow, and also pink. Weighing only 130g and a 7.8mm thin profile, it is also a relatively light and slim smartphone.
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi 4i will be available in Malaysia sometime in May 2015. At a retail price of 12,999 Indian rupee, which is approximately RM745, the Mi 4i will definitely be a compelling smartphone for interested consumers.
