After being delayed for two weeks, Cyanogen OS 12 is now available on the OnePlus One. Unlike OnePlus’ own OxygenOS which needs to be manually flashed, the Cyanogen OS 12 update should be available via OTA, seeing how existing OnePlus One smartphones are already running Cyanogen OS.
For now, Cyanogen OS 12 is only available on the OnePlus One, but it should make its way to other devices such as the YU Yureka soon. This particular version of Cyanogen OS is based on Android Lollipop, so you can expect to see Google’s material design language in the overall look and feel of it.
Cyanogen OS 12 also brings with it several new theming features, such as the ability to individually theme apps with the App Themer. It’s a rather interesting approach to let users further customise the appearance of their OnePlus One.
Interestingly, there is also a new email app dubbed Cyanogen email, which is customisable to a user’s liking. Users can select different LED colours for email notifications and customise what will happen when users swipe left or right on a message. Customisations aside, we have to say though: the layout looks a lot like the Gmail app.
