While this might sounds rather odd given the fact that the regional launch will only takes place next week, ASUS Singapore just moments ago has officially launched the brand new Zenfone 2 for its market – the first country in this region to do so. As part of the launch, the company has also revealed the pricing for all Zenfone 2 variants that ASUS has planned to release in Singapore.
Starting with the most affordable in the line-up at SGD 249 (about RM 678), the ZE500CL is the 5-inch variant of Zenfone 2 that also carries 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage. Next up is the ZE550ML which is a 5.5-inch model with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage as well as a price tag of SGD 299 (about RM 814).

As for the Zenfone 2’s premiere model, the ZE551ML will be made available in Singapore with three different memory and storage options. The 2GB RAM/32GB model is priced at SGD 349 (about RM 950) while the 4GB RAM/32GB variant goes for SGD 429 (about RM 1,168). Last but not least, the 4GB/64GB model is listed at SGD 499 (about RM 1,358).
In terms of availability, the pre-order for ZE500CL, ZE550ML, and ZE551ML 2GB/32GB variants begin immediately through ASUS Singapore’s official online store and is expected to be delivered to customers on this coming Saturday, 18 April. The final two variants of ZE551ML will only be released to Singaporean customers sometime in May.
In general, the prices that ASUS has set for Singapore seemed rather alright although they are still more costly than the prices in Taiwan. Nevertheless, this is a clear indication that Zenfone 2 is not made for the low cost market as per what ASUS has did for the first generation ZenFone devices last year.
Meanwhile, can we expect to see the same price range for Malaysian market? Well, we hope that ASUS is willing to provide the answer on 21 April at ZenFone 2’s regional launch in Jakarta. Else, we need to wait till the device’s Malaysian launch on 9 May.
