We knew this was coming: a “scratch test” of the Apple Watch’s sapphire display has made it to the Internet. As usual, the display was subjected to the common key and coin scratch test, but it quickly escalated into more extreme tests, such as hitting it with a hammer before trying to drill through it.
The so-called scratch test was done by the folks over at iPhonefixed, who have managed to get their hands on the Apple Watch’s sapphire display. The test began by trying to scratch the display with a key and rubbing it against a stone wall. It gets much more interesting once the hammer and power drill is brought out.
However, it seems like the hammer test was nothing more than gently tapping the screen with a heavy object. But to be fair, no one in their right mind would hit such an expensive gadget with a hammer. That being said, the power drill test is rather impressive, seeing how the Apple Watch’s display did not have any visible scratches after the ordeal.
These tests definitely show us just how durable the Apple Watch’s sapphire display is, but it’s worth noting that it costs approximately RM2,000 to get one with said display. The Apple Watch is available to order in the US today, but unfortunately, no specific date has been given yet for its availability in Malaysia.
