AMD Accidentally Reveals Windows 10 Launch Date

AMD at Computex 2014

Microsoft may have provided the media with a rough estimation of when Windows 10 will be made available, but it looks like AMD has spilled the beans on when the new operating system will be launched. The information was accidentally revealed during the company’s latest earnings call last week when CEO Lisa Su answered a question about inventory.

Su had said, “What we also are factoring in is, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory buildup”.

Information that verifies earlier suspicion that Microsoft would be moving the launch of Windows 10 to before the start of the school season in the US. This would represent a change from the traditional September launch of other Windows operating systems, but is a sound strategy if the company and its partners want to capture the back-to-school buying rush. Microsoft had earlier revealed that it would be launching Windows 10 this summer, but had declined to provide a more specific date.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see a push for new Windows 10 devices coming soon, since there is only three months left before the end of July. If this information is accurate, and it should be, we may be seeing more Windows 10 ready devices over the next couple of months. Hopefully with a new Microsoft Surface Pro among them.
