OnePlus has just shared a plethora of information regarding its new ROM, OxygenOS. Slated for release in March, the company has also revealed the OxygenOS team members, which are mainly members of the Paranoid Android team.
According to OnePlus, we can expect OxygenOS to be free of any bloatware for the sake of performance and to keep the ROM clean. By doing so, battery life and system efficiency will be optimised. Judging from early screenshots of the upcoming ROM, it does look very clean.
On top of that, the company is very clear on how OxygenOS will have a feature set that will “evolve together with the needs of its user base.” OnePlus intends to keep collecting feedbacks from its users in order to accomplish this. Owners of the OnePlus One will also be happy to learn that OxygenOS will be supported on it until year 2017.
As previously mentioned, the team of OxygenOS consists of members of Paranoid Android, which are very well-known in the Android development community. Paranoid Android is famous for its bloatware-free ROM that is based on Stock Android, and although most of its members are in the OxygenOS team, OnePlus assured its users that OxygenOS will be a unique ROM of its own.
OxygenOS is set to be released sometime in March. Once it is released, owners of the OnePlus One would probably have to flash the new ROM on their own as it will not be available via OTA.
