ASUS Transformer Book Chi

For the past few weeks, ASUS has released quite a number of teasers to remind us that it will be showing several new products at CES 2015. The first of them is the brand new ASUS Transformer Book Chi, a series of 2-in-1 Windows 8.1 tablets that are powered by Intel processors.

The series comes in three different models, which mainly correspond to their screen sizes. The first of them is the 7.6mm thick T300 Chi (shown below) which features a 12.5-inch IPS display with the resolution option of either 2560 x 1440 or 1920 x 1080. Weighing at around 720 grams, consumers are also able to choose it with either a 1.2GHz Intel Core M 5Y71 or a 0.8GHz Intel Core M 5Y10.

Apart from that, it also comes with up to 8GB of RAM alongside a 128GB SSD. Additionally, the T300 Chi also has its own attachable keyboard that enables users to utilize it in notebook mode. ASUS even boasted that the T300 Chi is still thinner than the Apple MacBook Air even when it is docked together with its keyboard.

Not only that, the Taiwanese company also pointed out that the WQHD display equipped on the T300 Chi has a higher pixel density than the MacBook Air. The same display also apparently has 72% percent NTSC colour gamut together with several in-house enhancement technologies such as ASUS TruVivid and ASUS Splendid.

The next product in the newly announced Transformer Book Chi series is the T100 Chi (shown above) which comes together with a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS display. Instead of Intel Core M, the T100 Chi is powered by a 1.46GHz Intel Atom Z3775 quad-core processor which is also accompanied by up to 2GB of RAM and 64GB eMMC storage.

With a thickness of 7.2mm, the 570 grams tablet also comes with 2-megapixels front camera and 5-megapixels auto-focus rear camera. Just like the T300 Chi, the T100 Chi also has its own detachable keyboard.

Last but not least, the third member of Transformer Book Chi family is the T90 Chi (shown below). Built with a 8.9-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display, the rest of its specifications are actually identical to T100 Chi including its processor, RAM, internal storage, and even cameras.

In terms of weight, the T90 Chi is slightly lighter than T100 Chi but it is somehow 0.3mm thicker than its bigger brother. As part of the family, the T90 Chi also comes with a detachable keyboard just like the other two Transformer Book Chi models.

Pricing-wise, the T300 Chi with WQHD display is listed at US$799 (RM 2,840) while the full HD model costs slightly lower at US$699 (RM 2,485). As for T100 Chi and T90 Chi, their starting price begins from  US$399 (RM 1,419) and US$299 (RM 1,063) respectively. All three tablets will be released throughout the world starting from February 2015 onwards, although the actual availability date for Malaysian market is not known at the moment.
