The Xiaomi Mi Band may be a regular fitness tracker that monitors your sleep and steps, but it doesn’t mean that it can’t do more than that. Independent developers recently tweaked the Mi Band app to allow it to alert users when they receive a notification on their mobile phone.
Unfortunately though, since the Mi Band does not have a display, you still can’t see what the notification is. Instead, the app will allow users to change the colour of the LED light on the Mi Band to show which app they are getting a notification from, for example change the lights to blue when you receive a notification from Facebook, or green for WhatsApp messages.
Once you select an app to receive notification from, you can then set the vibration intensity and duration, as well as the colour of the LED light, how many times should it flash, and the duration of the light.
Have the Mi Band and wish to try out the new notification feature? The APK file is available for download in the official MIUI forum and is compatible with Android 4.4 and above. If you already have Mi Band app installed on your device, you’ll need to remove it first before install this custom one.
