DC superhero themed MMORPG, DC Universe Online, has announced the closed beta test for the Southeast Asian server beginning today. In the game, the world is under threat from the machinations of Brainiac and a future version of Lex Luthor has traveled back in time to release nano-machines to stop him. These nano-machines will give ordinary people superpowers and become the players’ characters.
The game has been active in other regions, although it has suffered the same problems with penetrating the Asian markets as many other western MMORPGs. Regional distributor Asiasoft’s efforts to promote the SEA server are being accompanied by an in game competition; offering players in the closed beta the opportunity to win tickets to Sony’s SOE Live event in Las Vegas.
All players have to do is participate in the closed beta and have two characters reach level 30. The closed beta will run from today until 30 June 2014, which doesn’t give anyone much time to waste. Fortunately, Asiasoft is promising that there will be no server reset at the end of the beta period, allowing players to retain all progress when the game goes into the open beta.
DC Universe Online can be downloaded at the website, for anyone who is interested in teaming with Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League.
