Some of users might have been expecting it. So, here it is: Microsoft has decided to reduce the pricing of the original Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets just in time for the upcoming arrival of Surface 2 in Malaysia.
Starting from today, Surface RT is priced at RM 1,199 for 64GB while Surface Pro now goes for RM 1,899 with 128GB storage. As a comparison, the Surface RT 64GB was previously priced at RM 1,399 while Surface Pro 128GB was listed at RM 2,749. Of course, lets not forget their original launch price of RM 1,849 and RM 3,049 as well.
This pretty much means that Surface RT 32GB and Surface Pro 64GB variants have been phased out from our market. Additionally, the pricing of original Touch Cover and Type Cover have also been reduced to RM 279 and RM 319 respectively.
Since both tablets are still compatible with the newer Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2, consumers are able to purchase them now for RM 379 and RM 409.
