Anyone currently experiencing slow internet speeds should take note that it is due to a fault in the South East Asia–Middle East-Western Europe (SMW4) submarine cable providing an international data link to Europe. Telekom Malaysia warns that it affects all Unifi and Streamyx users who are accessing sites and servers based in Europe.
Steps have been taken to shift traffic through other international links, which will account for some slower connections. The issue was made known by TM on 20 November, although it appears to have only been noticed by a majority of users this week. There is no other information released about the fault, and we are still unsure of how long it will take to correct the fault.

Two months ago the Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable linking Southeast Asia to America broke causing massive degradation of internet speeds across the region. That fault was only fully restored in October, just over a month before this most recent cable fault was discovered.
