Xiaomi Announces the New Redmi Note with LTE

As promised by Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, last night, here’s the new Xiaomi Redmi Note with 4G LTE on board. Xiaomi has just taken the curtains off its 5.5” phablet that not only supports 4G, but also features a different processor and is lighter than before. With the same price tag of 999yuan, the new Redmi Note is now powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and uses a Adreno 305 GPU. It still has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage on board; other specs include 13MP rear camera, a slightly smaller battery of 3100mAh, MIUI 5 based on Android 4.4, and while the dimensions is identical with the old Redmi Note, the 4G version weighs 10 grams less. Don’t get too excited yet though, the new Redmi Note only supports 4G TDD-LTE that is only available in China. The FDD-LTE version for China Unicom will be available from August 26. No words have been mentioned about international availability but if Xiaomi should launch this out of their home country, it might take a while. The new Redmi Note with LTE can be booked in Xiaomi’s main website for 999 Yuan from today, and the 3G version’s price has been revised from 999 yuan to 799 yuan – that’s about RM415. EDIT: There will be three Redmi Note variants available in China: the original Redmi Note (with 1.4GHz octa-core processor) at 799 Yuan, the enhanced edition (with 1.7GHz octa-core processor) at 999 Yuan, and the new 4G LTE Redmi Note which will also be priced at 999 Yuan.
