Maxis’ trade-up program for the iPhone 5s, where you can trade in selected smartphones to get a huge discount off the new iPhone 5s with an iValue postpaid plan, has been updated to accept all smartphones. Maxis guarantees a minimum RM200 discount for any smartphone traded in at any Maxis Centre or Maxis Exclusive Partner outlets nationwide.
The program update is pretty significant, as there are now certain tiers to consider depending on the device that you’re looking to trade in for the iPhone 5s. For example, trading in an iPhone 5 would give you a RM1000 rebate off the device price for the iPhone 5s that Maxis charges as part of its 24-month contract. If the on-contract device price is lower than the RM1000 trade-in value, the remainder will be deducted off your monthly contract charges.
The trade-up program now also includes plenty of new devices. Previously, you could only trade-in your old iPhone 4 and 4S, or the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2; with the update, you can now trade-in any smartphone for a minimum trade-in value of RM200. Naturally, the more recent models will be offered a higher trade-in value.
And, as before, the trade-up process is very simple: all you need to do is bring your used device (no box, charger or accessories required) to a Maxis Center or Maxis Exclusive Partner nationwide. Trade in your device, sign the contract, and you’re good to go. Of course, the smartphone that you’re trading in must also be in working condition (Maxis states four criteria to determine its usability, including the ability to switch it on and off).
