Think that the Sony Lens-Style Cameras, the Sony QX10 and QX100, are cool but a little too pricy and you could do with something a little cheaper? Look no further, JK Imaging Ltd., the worldwide licensee of Kodak PixPro Digital Cameras and Devices, recently announced that they are working on a similar lineup of products called the Smart Lens camera SL10 and SL25, that are a lot more affordable than the USD$249 and USD$499 ones from Sony.

The Smart Lens looks and works pretty much like the QX lenses from Sony . They look like a typical camera lens, can work independently and store images to a built-in memory card slot. Both Smart Lenses does not come with any LCD display but like the ones from Sony, users can connect them to any Android or iOS device to see what they are capturing, and even transfer captured images to the device (via a dedicated app) for editing and instant sharing.

Both lenses are aimed at providing uses with a longer zoom, improved focus and better images. First up, the PixPro SL10 features a 10x optical zoom, 1080p video, 28-280mm wide-angle lens with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on board. The PixPro SL25 is pretty much the same, but it has an even wider and longer lens of 25x optical zoom and a 24mm ultra-wide-angle lens. Both lenses will be equipped with a built-in sleep mode to help conserve battery and are scheduled to hit the market in the next couple of months for USD$199 and USD$299 respectively.

No further details have been given about the PixPro Smart Lenses from Kodak like the megapixel count, lens type and such so I guess we’ll just have to wait for the official launch to see what Kodak has got to offer. Meanwhile, hit the break to see the difference between the Kodak PixPro SL10 and SL25 compared to the Sony Lens-Style QX10 and QX100.
