WeChat-malaysia

WeChat, one of the fastest-growing mobile communication apps, has officially been launched in Malaysia. Although the app has been available since June 2012, developers Tencent clearly see an opportunity to expand the app’s reach in the Malaysian market. As such, the company has released three TV commercials in Bahasa Malaysia promoting the app and its features, as well as appointing two local celebrities as WeChat brand ambassadors for Malaysia.

The commercials are about 30 seconds long, and each shows off one unique feature of the messaging app, such as push voice messaging, video calls as well as the Moments feature – which allows users to post status updates and photos. All these are conveyed in the commercials as an ongoing conversation between Lisa Surihani and Shaheizy Sam – there’s even time for some Harlem Shake! In addition, the commercials also has a promotional scene featuring Domino’s Pizza, who formed a cross-industry partnership with WeChat.

Available in 17 languages including English and Bahasa Malaysia, WeChat is supported on iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian as well as Windows Phone devices. Find out more about WeChat from its official website here.

Head on after the break to watch the other two commercials.
