Razer Kraken Forged Edition 02

Late last month, Razer have announced yet another addition to their family of music/gaming headphones under the Kraken series called Kraken Forged Edition. It is the fourth model in the series and recently made an unannounced appearance at Razer’s booth during the PIKOM PC Fair in KL Convention Centre last weekend.

As you can see above and also from its name, the Razer Kraken Forged Edition is made of metal (aircraft-grade aluminium, to be specific) and finished with matte texture. The closed cup headphones is said to be hand-assembled to ensure its premium quality and comes with a pair of 40mm audio drivers that are made from neodymium magnets just like other versions of Kraken headphones before it.

Additionally, Razer stated (in their own words) that the Kraken Forged Edition is tuned to deliver “booming bass, clear mids and crisp highs” which again sounds exactly like the original Kraken headphones that was released in 2012. To ensure comfort during long use, the company fitted the headphones with thick leatherette ear cushions.

Although not shown on this particular display unit, the headphones actually comes standard with a swappable cable with built-in microphone that enables it to be used for in-game voice chat or telephony. Also included together with the Kraken Forged Edition is a hard carrying case which was actually on display alongside the headphones.

It is hard to judge the quality of a product when it is contained within a display case but at the very least, you can see how the brushed aluminium finish of the Razer Kraken Forged Edition is able to convey its premium vibe rather easily. Hence, it doesn’t really surprise us when Razer listed the headphones at a rather steep price point of USD 299.99 (RM 963) / EUR 299.99 (RM 1321).

Although it was on display at PC Fair, the new Razer Kraken Forged Edition is not available in Malaysia just yet and the staff at Razer’s booth at that time were not able to provide us any release date for our market at the time being. To learn more about it, just head on to www.razerzone.com.
