Samsung has revealed that the company intends on introducing a smartphone next year with a new 16MP camera sensor and a super sharp 2560 x 1440 display with a crazy 560ppi pixel density. The company shared its future plans at the recent Samsung Analyst Day gathering aimed at investors and, well, analysts, as well as announcing record profits across the board.

For its 2014 smartphone lineup, the company will release a flagship device with a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution with a pixel density of 560ppi, which calculates to a 5.2-inch display size. In comparison, the current sharpest display in the consumer smartphone market, the HTC One, “only” has a pixel density of 469ppi.

Samsung had also been working on a new camera sensor, called ISOCELL, and had announced that an 8MP variant of the new sensor technology will enter mass production by the end of this year. It had been tipped to be fitted on the company’s upcoming flagships, but it looks like Samsung has bigger ideas, now that it has mentioned about the 16MP sensor.

Finally, the company also shared that it is also developing its own custom 64-bit processing chip, as well as intending to introduce seemingly absurd 4K resolution displays in 2015, and foldable displays for smartphones from 2016.
