It looks like VentureBeat has gotten their hands on what seems like the first look of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch that is scheduled to be unveiled at IFA 2013 happening later this week. VentureBeat actually got to touch and hold a real prototype but since she wasn’t allowed to photograph the real deal, she only took pictures of an internal promotional marketing video for the watch.

According to VentureBeat, the Galaxy Gear features a 3” display with some pretty large bezels at the top and bottom, giving it a rather bulky look. Specs wise, according to Sammobile who posted the specs last week, AmongTech shared that the smartwatch will pack a 1.5GHz dual-core processor beneath its display with 1GB of RAM. It will have Bluetooth 4.0 LE on board and will run on Android Jelly Bean with 4MP camera, 8GB or 16GB storage, and built-in speakers. It may rely on Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity for better power efficiency, but according to the specs, it will last for only 10 hours.

As for software, being Samsung, the company will definitely pack it with a whole load of apps, most of which are focused on health and fitness apps; Samsung is said to be working with a health startup to develop fitness apps for the watch. Other specs include Samsung S Voice, call logs, internet access, power button on the side, and social media integration.

Of course, none of these are confirmed, VentureBeat only got their hands on a prototype so the final version could look a little different, though, it should not be too far off from what we are seeing now; let’s just hope that Samsung will slim down that thick bezel on the final product and beef up its battery capacity. Only a couple of days of wait to go, we will be on ground in IFA 2013 so stay tuned as we keep you updated.
