It looks like gigantic smartphones are doing very well in the market. Today, Acer announced its first phablet device that measures at a whopping 5.7” – that’s larger than the ever-popular 5.5” display on the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The phablet, named Acer Liquid S1, comes in either a single- or dual-SIM flavor, is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, has a HD display of 1280 x 720 resolution and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Software wise, the Liquid S1 features Acer Float User Interface that allows for multitasking, Acer Auto Profile that supports predefined network settings for frequently visited locations, Mobile studio, Live sharing and more. Other specs includes 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card, weighs 195g, has a wide front shot camera with 88degrees wide viewing angle, 24mm lens camera, and Studio Sound speakers.
The device, available in matte black or white, is scheduled to be shipped in Q3 2013 to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, UK and Germany, followed by Spain and Italy with a starting price of Euro349. According to Engadget, the phone is bound for Asia release as well.
