In its bid to continue its encouraging momentum with Windows Phone 8, Nokia is reportedly working on a new Lumia phablet to leverage on the success of the relatively new form factor. In addition, the rumoured Lumia PureView flagship, codenamed EOS, may be launched sometime in July.
According to the Financial Times, Nokia’s upcoming phablet will be “similar in size but with more advanced specifications” to Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note. It was not mentioned which iteration of Samsung’s groundbreaking devices was referred to, however. Microsoft was reportedly already working on support for Full HD resolutions on Windows Phone 8, so the introduction of a WP8 phablet seems to make a lot of sense to leverage Nokia and Microsoft in a market largely dominated by Samsung’s Galaxy Note.
The Financial Times also reported that the EOS Lumia flagship will feature a large 40MP PureView sensor that may combine both the lossless zoom capabilities found on the 808 PureView smartphone with the Optical Image Stabilisation feature that the Lumia 920 boasts.
