More Samsung Galaxy Mega Rumours Revealed

SamMobile has uncovered more details about the rumoured new line of Galaxy smartphones, called the Galaxy Mega. As previously leaked, the Galaxy Mega – as the name implies – will feature some of the biggest screen sizes to be found on the Galaxy line of Android smartphones from Samsung. Unlike the Galaxy Note series, however, the Galaxy Mega does not feature the S Pen, and is most likely to be less powerful.

If SamMobile are to be believed, there will be two variants of the Galaxy Mega: the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. The Mega 5.8, being the smaller version, is also the more modestly-specced of the two, featuring a 5.8-inch 540 x 960 TFT display, 1.4GHz dual-c0re processor and 1.5GB of RAM, a large 2600mAh battery as well as dual-SIM support. In addition, this 9.7mm thick device will also feature an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing one, and will run on either Android 4.2.1 or the latest 4.2.2, and the customary Nature UX skin on top. Storage options were not revealed, however.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 sports slightly better hardware, with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM powering the undoubtedly massive 6.3-inch PLS HD screen. There’s also an 8MP rear camera, as well as a 2MP front-facing module. Being a large device, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will also sport a very impressive 3200mAh battery pack, and like the Mega 5.8 will also run on Android 4.2.1/4.2.2 with the Nature UX skin. Another selling point of the Mega 6.3 will also be its 7.9mm thickness, which is the same as the upcoming Galaxy S4 flagship. Interestingly, Samsung will ship the Mega 6.3 in both LTE and non-LTE variants, and in two colours (black and white).

SamMobile has not revealed a release date for the Galaxy Mega 5.8, while the black version of the Mega 6.3 is expected to be released in week 20 this year (mid-May).
