It is not exactly a secret as the one of the company’s own top guy has confirmed its imminent launch early on but nevertheless, Huawei today has officially launched its first Windows Phone 8 device – the Huawei Ascend W1.
Boasting a sleek 10.15mm profile, the Huawei Ascend W1 is equipped with a 4-inch IPS touch display with maximum resolution of 800×480. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8230 SoC processor which features a 1.2GHz dual-core Krait CPU and an Adreno 305 GPU. It also comes together with 512MB worth of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be further boosted through the device’s micro-SD slot which supports cards with storage of up to 32GB.
In terms of photography capability, the device features a 5-megapixels main camera as well as a 0.3-megapixels front-facing camera. Last but not least, the Huawei Ascend W1 is powered by a 1950mAh battery which is claimed to be able to give the device around 10 hours of 3G talk time and a ridiculously long 3G standby time of 470 hours.
No mention of its official pricing and Malaysian release date for the time being but judging from its technical specifications (available after the “Read More” link below), the Huawei Ascend W1 should be in the same class as other sub-RM 1k Windows Phone 8 devices such as HTC 8S and Nokia Lumia 620.
