Earlier today, the Malaysian Committee and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has released its Network Performance Report (NPR) for 2018 to a selected group of media in its headquarters at Putrajaya. While we were not invited to the briefing by MCMC ourselves and the agency itself has yet to publish the actual NPR document on its website, the team over at SoyaCincau were in attendance and were kind enough to share the charts through Twitter.

In the wireless broadband segment, it seems that Maxis is leading the industry for 2018. While all telcos have managed to meet MCMC’s Mandatory Standards for Quality of Service (MSQoS) for download spewasMaxis were really ahead at 99.89% as shown below:

Aside from that, Maxis also topped the chart when it comes to response time. That being said, the gap between all the telcos were quite small for this factor:

Last but not least, Maxis also has the highest average speed among six LTE-based players in our market according to MCMC. In fact, the gap between the telco and the second runner-up, Digi is almost 12Mbps:

For 2018, MCMC stated that the NPR tests were done from January to December 2018. The agency went through 21650 call samples and 518 wireless broadband locations for all six operators throughout Malaysia in order to come out with the NPR.
