HONOR is bringing one of its more unusual budget smartphones to the global market. The Play 20C features a 2.01-inch touchscreen on the back of the phone, which can be used as a secondary display for functions such as checking notifications, controlling media, and even previewing shots from the rear camera.
Starting with the display, the Play 20C features a 6.78 1,576 x 720 resolution LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a typical brightness of 600 nits. The secondary screen, meanwhile, has a 240 x 296 resolution panel. Though it seems plain, though the body seems plain, it does feature an IP52 dust and water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a dual sim card + microSD card tray.
Under the hood, it features a Unisco T615 SoC with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. By the way, storage capacity can be increased by up to 1TB with the aforementioned microSD card slot.
Powering it all is a 6,000mAh battery that supports up to 15W wired charging. In terms of the OS, the official spec sheet reads “Android 16 (Go edition)”.
Despite having two lenses on its back, the Play 20C only has one rear camera. It is a 13MP sensor with an f/2.2 that has 4x digital zoom. On the flipside, the device has a 5MP selfie snapper tucked away in a punch-hole cutout.
The HONOR Play 20C comes in Forest Green, Sunrise Gold, and Midnight Black colourways. As for configurations, the device is available in 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 128GB.
It’s worth noting that the Play 20C closely resembles another phone called the HONOR X5d s that recently launched in South Africa. The main, and perhaps only, difference between the two devices is that the X5d s comes with a 50MP main camera and a limited colourway (it doesn’t have Sunrise Gold).
In any case, HONOR has yet to announce the Play 20C’s availability or pricing. The device has also yet to appear in SIRIM’s database or on HONOR Malaysia’s website, so it remains unclear if and when it will make its way to the local market. We’ll keep an eye out for any updates regarding its Malaysian availability and update this article accordingly.
