Back in August, China Mobile and Maxis announced a partnership to launch the former’s mobile virtual network operator brand in Malaysia. Called CMLink, it relies on Maxis’ network infrastructure for coverage. Now, it seems the service has already started offering telco plans in the country.
As per CMLink’s website, the brand’s offerings focus on prepaid packages without contracts. Customers can choose from a selection of monthly and multi-month plans. The cheapest option costs RM25/month and includes 40GB of data and unlimited call minutes in Malaysia.
For those willing to spend a little more, there are packages offering 200GB of data for RM35/month, and 350GB for RM50/month. Meanwhile, the RM100/month option nets you unlimited data. Furthermore, customers can purchase add-ons for more data and roaming.
As with many other telcos, CMLink offers eSIMs and the ability to port existing numbers. What sets CMLink apart from other providers are the China-specific services. With the exception of the 40GB plan, the packages include roaming data for China. Some plans even include call minutes to and from the country.
Beyond that, the network operator offers a 1-Card-Multi-Number service, which lets the user link a Mainland China or Hong Kong phone number to their CMLink number. Designed for those who travel frequently, the feature serves to keep users connected as they move between Malaysia and China. This does come with an additional RM5/month charge, though.
Speaking of payments, CMLink supports credit cards, Alipay, UnionPay, WeChat Pay, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Those interested in learning more about the prepaid plans and other services can head over to the company’s official website linked below.
