The government of the state of Kelantan says that it plans to provide online tuition classes to SPM candidates, starting next year. The program, known as “E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera”, will be free.
Datuk Wan Roslan Wan Hamat, State Education, Higher Education, Green Technology, Digital, and Innovation Committee Chairman, says that the Kelantan government is already engaged in a trial run of the online tuition initiative, and has been doing so in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia, along with 1,896 students.

“Through the E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera Kelantan online, it will provide the format for answering the SPM examination, covering all subjects. The trial this year involves an allocation of nearly RM100,000. For next year, we intend to further expand this initiative by providing the best formats in collaboration with expert teachers to offer this online tuition for free to all SPM candidates throughout Kelantan,” he said.
The decision to offer free tuition comes after what Wan Roslan claims to be the success of last year’s free tuition initiative and implementation of “Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera”. Back then, the program focused on four core subjects, oversaw the participation of 1,495 students, and cost the government RM477,000. Wan Roslan also claims that the SPM results in Kelantan reached 95.99% in 2024, up from 95.08% the year before.
Additionally, and given the success of the program, Wan Roslan says that it is possible the Kelantan government could extend the free online tuition initiative out to STPM and STAM students in the future.
