Recently, we reported on the upcoming road closures in Kuala Lumpur (KL) in conjunction with the 47th ASEAN Summit. Yesterday, The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has issued a media statement, announcing a dry run for the motorcade escort operations for the summit.

The dry run will take place from 17 to 24 October 2025, covering key routes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to various hotels around Kuala Lumpur, Seri Negara Kuala Lumpur, and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). According to PDRM, the operation will involve 1,111 police personnel.

The highways and roads affected during the dry run include:
• KLIA Expressway
• ELITE Highway (KLIA – Putrajaya)
• NKVE Highway (Subang – Jalan Duta)
• Guthrie Highway
• North–South Expressway (Sungai Buloh – Jalan Duta)
• MEX Highway
• KL–Seremban Highway (Sungai Besi – City Centre)
• Putrajaya Ring Road
• Jalan Istana
• Jalan Damansara
• Jalan Tun Abdul Razak
• Jalan Ampang
• Jalan Sultan Ismail
• Jalan Bukit Bintang
• Jalan Imbi
• Jalan Parlimen
• Jalan Kuching

During the dry run and the real event later, road users are advised to avoid the affected routes and instead use the designated alternative roads to ease traffic congestion. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead and reschedule any activities planned during the summit period.

PDRM also urges road users to comply with instructions from traffic officers stationed along the routes to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. Additionally, commercial vehicle operators are reminded to observe restricted operating hours, while the public is encouraged to use public transport wherever possible during the road closures.
