Earlier in the week, nubia announced that it is launching the nubia Air smartphone in Malaysia on 17 October. And as promised, the brand’s slimmest smartphone yet is officially available for purchase today. Despite the thin form factor, the company boasts that it has a durable design, a “practical massive” battery, and some AI features.
First, the nubia Air features a 5.9mm thin body with a 6.78-inch 1,224 x 2,720 AMOLED display at 440 PPI, with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 100 DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The phone also has an under-display fingerprint sensor, while the display itself is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. As for water and dust resistance, nubia claims that the phone has an IP68 and an IP69 certification, with an industrial-grade IP69K waterproofing.
Under the hood, according to GSMArena, the nubia Air is equipped with a Unisoc T8300 6nm SoC with up to 20GB (8 + 12) Dynamic RAM and 256GB ROM. The device features a 5,000mAh battery that can and is rumoured to support up to 33W wired charging. In terms of OS, as per GSMArena’s listing, the device is running on Android 15.
Camera-wise, the nubia Air features a 50MP main shooter, a 2MP depth camera, and an unspecified auxiliary lens. On the flipside, the device has a 20MP selfie camera within a hole-punch cutout. The camera array features an integrated AI Sport Snapshot, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), and Video Anti-Shake capabilities for improved capture. It also has AI Super NIght and AI High Dynamic Range (HDR) functions.

The nubia Air comes in two colours: Titanium Desert and Titanium Black. The phone is available for purchase through physical retailers or through nubia’s official Shopee page. The handset is priced at RM1,099, but the company is offering an early bird discount, dropping the price to RM899. At the time of writing, it is unknown how long this discounted price will last.
