Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) has announced that the Proton eMAS received 1,607 bookings within just 24 hours after reservations opened on 4 October. The strong response followed a livestream launch event that featured numerous media personalities that was broadcasted across eight TikTok pages and one Facebook page.
The national carmaker claims that the eMAS 5 is one of the most affordable EV in Malaysia. To reflect that, Proton recently revealed that the EV hatchback is estimated to be priced between RM60,000 and RM80,000.
The Proton eMAS 5 comes in two trims; Prime and Premium, featuring feather-inspired headlights paired with arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights. At the rear, it comes with a matching set of feather-like taillights and a sleek roof spoiler. The 16-inch alloy wheels further enhance the hatchback’s modern and sporty profile.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 14.6-inch infotainment display powered by an Automotive Grade Chip. The system supports both wireless and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ensuring seamless connectivity for all users.
At its core, the eMAS 5 is driven by an advanced 11-in-1 integrated motor that produces 85 kW and 150 Nm of torque. Power is supplied by a 40.16 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-rated range of up to 325 km on a full charge. The EV supports 71 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 30% to 80% top-up in just 21 minutes. For home use, it gets the standard 6.6 kW AC charger.
As mentioned earlier, bookings for the Proton eMAS 5 are now open, and Proton has announced exclusive incentives for the first 5,000 customers. These include a RM100 preloaded Touch ‘n Go NFC card and a RM500 rebate.
