Nothing has rolled out a new update for its Essential Space app that introduces an audio call recording feature to its latest smartphones. It is available now in eight countries, with Malaysia included in the list.
The company confirmed that users can now record voice calls directly from the interface by long-pressing the Essential Key or tapping the “Start recording” option that appears in the call notification. Once the call ends, the recording will automatically be saved within Essential Space for later playback.
For now, the call recording capability is limited to the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro models. According to Nothing, the rollout is being done automatically without requiring users to install a manual update, so those who’ve recently updated the aforementioned models will have access to it now.
The company added that availability will gradually expand to more countries in future updates. It is unconfirmed whether the new audio call recording feature will eventually make it to the brand’s older models or even CMF phones, which also runs on Nothing’s Android-based operating system.
