Proton, through its subsidiary PRO-NET, has officially opened bookings for its second EV, the Proton eMAS 5. The compact model will be available in two variants, Prime and Premium, with customer deliveries expected to begin as early as November 2025.
Built on Geely’s Star Wish platform, the eMAS 5 carries over much of the donor model’s design language. The front fascia is highlighted by feather-inspired headlights paired with arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights, while the rear features a matching set of feather-like taillights and a sleek roof spoiler. Completing the exterior look are 16-inch alloy wheels that lend the hatchback a modern and sporty profile.
Inside, the eMAS 5 offers a tech-focused cabin anchored by an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 14.6-inch infotainment display. The system is powered by an Automotive Grade Chip and supports both wireless and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional interior highlights include a leatherette steering wheel and leather seats for a more premium feel.
The eMAS 5 Premium variant is powered by an advanced 11-in-1 integrated motor that produces 85 kW and 150 Nm of torque. According to Proton, this allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. A 40.16 kWh battery pack provides a WLTP-rated range of up to 325 km on a full charge. For charging, the EV supports 71 kW DC fast charging, capable of topping up from 30% to 80% in just 21 minutes, along with standard 6.6 kW AC charging for home use.
While pricing has yet to be finalised, Proton estimates the eMAS 5 will retail between RM60,000 and RM80,000, potentially making it the most affordable electric car in Malaysia upon launch. The company also announced early booking incentives: the first 5,000 customers will receive a Touch ‘n Go NFC card preloaded with RM100, along with a further RM500 rebate. Interested buyers can secure a unit with a booking fee of RM99.
