Subscribers to the Xbox PC Game Pass, there’s some bad news. Microsoft has announced another price hike to its service, and it looks to have also affected us in Malaysia. The listed price for a month of the service was RM20, following a hike around the same time last year. Now, the price shown is RM25 a month.
This comes as Microsoft announces changes to the general Xbox Game Pass tiering system, like what happened last year. Only now, rather than adding a new tier, the company is rebranding existing ones in the international market. This makes clear that, the more you pay, the better the perks you got for your money. Not that any of those applied to us here in Malaysia.

That being said, the international market is naturally in an uproar when the Ultimate tier of Xbox Game pass got hiked up to US$30 (~RM126). This was a 50% increase from last year’s US$20, and it was the only tier that let subscribers play new games on day-one.
While we didn’t quite get the raw deal that other markets got, RM25 a month is not nothing. And with the ongoing Steam Autumn Sale of 2025 having so many games at a 90% discount, that’s a lot of games for an annual subscription for the Xbox PC Game Pass. At any rate, you be the judge as to where you money goes.
