WhatsApp has announced a new wave of updates across its app, including support for Live and Motion photos, new sticker packs, and more. These are rolling out gradually and will be accessible to users worldwide in the coming weeks.
iPhone users can now share Live Photos, while Android users gain Motion Photos support. These formats capture both sound and movement, allowing users to share moments more vividly across platforms.
Meta AI is also expanding its role in the app, where users can now generate personalised chat themes and unique backgrounds for video calls or media shared in chats. For those who rely on stickers, WhatsApp has introduced several new packs, including Fearless Bird, School Days, and Vacation.
Group chat discovery is also getting simpler. Instead of scrolling through long lists, users can now search for the name of a friend and instantly see all the groups they share with them.
Last but not least, Android users finally gain built-in document scanning, which is a feature that’s already available on iOS. As its name implies, this allows documents to be scanned, as well as cropped, saved, and sent directly through the app.
